Sizigium Airlayer removing

August 13, 2013

This was a topiary I bought this year. It was airlayered 4 month ago, I did two airlayers on the same branch.

Time to take it out,

Plenty of roots. I do my airlayers in sand. Dont have moss here.

Here they are the two airlayers.

Lots of roots

Here it is chopped off and the pot removed. I don’t disturb the roots at this point. I let it grow so the roots can lignify, and then they are more flexible and easier to comb and arrange.

.Reduced most of the branches. and removed many of the remaining leaves, to help the plant recover.

This is what came out of it. All will be made into cuttings.

This is the only pot I had…but it is OK for now, since I shall bareroot it again next year.

I think I shall airlayer it one more time next year…at that naked part of the trunk
